Dental Crowns and Dental Bridges

Dental Crown

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cover that is placed over a damaged or weakened tooth. It is designed to cover the tooth above the gum line and is securely cemented into place. Dentists use dental crowns to enhance a tooth’s strength, size, and shape, thereby improving both its functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Before a dental crown can be fitted, some preparation is necessary. The tooth in question is typically reshaped and adjusted to ensure a proper fit for the crown. Impressions of the tooth and the surrounding gum area are then taken and sent to a dental laboratory to create a custom-fit crown. In the meantime, a temporary crown may be placed over the tooth. Once the custom crown is ready, it is permanently cemented onto the tooth.

Dental Bridge

The loss or absence of teeth can result in unsightly gaps between your natural teeth, especially when the missing teeth are in the front. In cases where one or more teeth are missing, a dental bridge may be recommended as a solution.

During your dental visit, your dentist will visually examine your teeth and conduct X-rays to evaluate the condition of the adjacent teeth, as these will serve as the support for the bridge.

The teeth that will support the dental bridge are prepared and shaped to ensure they can effectively hold the bridge in place.

Once the preparation for your dental bridge is complete, impressions of your teeth are taken and sent to a dental lab to create a custom bridge. A temporary bridge may be fitted until the custom bridge is ready. Once ready, the dentist will cement the bridge into place, securing it to the supporting adjacent teeth.
